Position Descriptions

As a community focused organization, Grade A Plus believes that supporting the endeavors of emerging adults within the Columbia, MO community is an essential component towards building a better future for the community as a whole. As such, we provide both college students and community members the opportunity to build skills as academic support and enrichment leaders, to work with the Board of Directors to develop strategic and social marketing plans, to collect and analyze data, and to support grant, family, and community development programs. It is our hope that through these opportunities, young adults within our community will gain the experience they need to reach their goals.

All positions function as part of a team and share in the planning and development of the team goals and responsibilities. Each position has a designated range of hours in which tasks are to be performed. Applicants must interview for consideration of a position,  be able to pass a background check, provide references, have a cell phone, and have access to a computer or laptop. Applicants are to complete an Involvement Application form at ww.gradeaplusinc.org, and submit a resume  and letter of interest regarding future involvement with Grade A Plus. The application form will inquire about hours of availability, positions of interest.  Positions are available and will remain open until filled. All applicants should have an understanding of diversity, inclusion, and equity issues that affect educational outcomes and success for youth designated as at-risk, fragile, or economically disadvantaged and must be able to respond to related needs as they arise. 

Program Manager

Responsibilities​

  • Must be on site for each session to open the facility, perform room arrangements, and set up and clean up equipment.

  • Arrange transportation schedule for pickup and drop off of students and coordinate with drivers.

  • Arrange and coordinate all enrichment and field trip activities.

  • Communicate with contract and volunteer tutors and staff, oversee tutor and staff attendance and participation, and ensure all staff complete daily activity reports.

  • Participate in the enrollment, training, and matching of tutors with students based on their academic and enrichment needs.

  • Be available and accessible regularly within a range of flexible hours for related organization communication through various means including email, phone, Zoom, and in-person.

  • Support related administrative functions as designated.

Qualifications

  • ​BA degree preferably in Education, Human Development, or Business Management

  • Prior experience working in an educational environment

  • Desired skills: Fluent in technology use including but not limited to Google forms and Google spreadsheets, leadership ability, and data handling

Pay Range and Hours

  • Paid position based on experience

  • Requires 15-20 hours per week

Program Asst. Site & Enrichment Manager

Responsibilities​

  • Must be on site for each session to record student attendance, communicate with Family Leaders regarding student attendance and participation, and monitor weekly student progress regarding tutoring and enrichment sessions.

  • Maintain student folders and communicate student progress and expected outcomes with tutors

  • Collect pre-assessment and post-assessment data for each student.

  • Collect data as designated to document program impact and prepare data reports.

  • Participate in the enrollment, training, and matching of tutors with students based on their academic and enrichment needs.

  • Be available and accessible regularly within a range of flexible hours for related organization communication through various means including email, phone, Zoom, and in-person.

  • Support related administrative functions as designated.

Qualifications

  • 60+ college credit hours preferably in Business, IT & Computer Systems, Data Collection, or
    Educational Statistics

  • ​Prior experience working in virtual educational environments such as Zoom

  • Desired skills: Fluent in technology use including but not limited to Google forms and Google spreadsheets, leadership ability, and data handling

Family Development Specialist 

Responsibilities​

  • Develop programs and activities that will support Family Leaders in working toward success for their children in school, the community, and as a family unit.

  • Build positive relationships with each enrolled family.

  • Communicate with individuals/groups via phone, virtual meetings, and in-person sessions and workshops.

  • Coordinate and assist in activities related to food insecurity.

  • Advocate for families on issues regarding children's attendance and school enrollment.

Qualifications

  • BSW degree or equivalent education in Counseling or Human Development

  • Prior experience in performing needs assessments, facilitating well-being contact, assessing stress levels, and providing referrals when needed

  • Fluent in data collection and report filing systems used by the organization

  • Fluent in communication via digital and technology-based tools

  • Must have a means of transportation and be available to work in various settings and locations

Pay Range and Hours

  • Paid position based on experience

  • Requires 15-20 hours per week

Program Support- Learning Leaders & Tutors

Responsibilities​

  • Provide tutoring support to assigned students in a 1:1 or small group setting both virtually and on-site.

  • Complete daily data reports as designated to track progress and impact of provided services.

  • Mentor or coach small groupsof students during enrichment activities. 

Qualifications (Paid Positions)

  • 60+ college credit hours

  • Must have high content knowledge base for working with K-12 students

  • Must enjoy working with children

(Non-Paid Positions)

  • Prior experience as a college or community volunteer

  • Must have skills in math, reading, writing, science, or other subjects for which students need academic support

  • Must have life experience in areas that can be taught to students through mentoring and workshop activities

  • Must enjoy working with children

Pay Range and Hours

  • Paid (based on experience and education) and Non-Paid (Community service or course credit)

  • Requires 1.5-3 hours per week

  • Community service  hours or course credit

*Hires will be activated into service upon matching with a student(s).

Nutrition & Transportation Support Helpers

Responsibilities​

  • Plan menus for weekly dinner service.

  • Provide healthy snacks and treats twice a week.

  • Coordinate the distribution of the monthly food boxes.

  • Shop for weekly ingredients and snacks.

  • Prepare food as needed.

  • Assist with transporting youth using organization vehicles for program related activities.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience or educational training in food science or food support with a focus on serving youth

  • Good driving record, likes children, availability

Pay Range and Hours

  • Paid (based on experience and education)  and Non-Paid (community service or course credit) position

  • Requires 3 - 5 hours per week
